2011 Indiana High School Football Season

Conference realignments: Six schools have shifted conference affiliations since last year.

  • Edinburgh left the Mid-Indiana Football Conference to compete as an independent.
  • Lafayette Central Catholic left the Hoosier Heartland Conference to join the Hoosier Conference.
  • Sheridan left the Hoosier Conference to join the Hoosier Heartland Conference.
  • The Olympic Conference officially disbanded, making Connersville, Jay County & Muncie South all independents.

Future conference realignments: Two schools will shift conference affiliations in upcoming years.

  • Rushville announced they will leave the Hoosier Heritage Conference and join the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference in 2013.
  • Connersville announced they will leave the independents and join the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference in 2013.

School closings: One school which fielded a team in 2010 will not do so this fall.

  • Harding (Fort Wayne) closed, leaving the Summit Athletic Conference with eight members.

New football teams: Several charter schools & home schools will field football teams this fall.

  • Anderson Prep Academy will play their first varsity game in school history.
  • Elkhart Christian Academy will play their first varsity game in school history.
  • Gary Lighthouse will play their first varsity game in school history.
  • Howe Military Academy will play varsity football for the first time since 1984.
  • Lions Home School will play varsity football.
  • Southside Home School will play their first varsity game in school history.
