1961 Indiana High School Football Season

A tradition that had started around the turn of the 19th century came to an end in 1961: high school football on Thanksgiving Day. In what was also the school's final game, the Evansville Lincoln Lions tied Burt High School of Clarksville, Tenn., 7-7, in the final Thanksgiving Day game in Indiana High School Football history.

The Reitz Panthers of Evansville finished the season undefeated, untied and unscored upon! This feat has not been repeated since.
